Ethical and Sustainable Sourcing

Sustainability is not just about the raw materials we use, but how and by who our products are assembled.

Thats why at teddy we are fully focused and committed on securing a supply network of only ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rated companies by 2025.

This means you can sleep easy knowing your teddy mattress was made ethically and sustainably by manufacturers who safeguard not only the environment but focus on the well being of their employees and their communities.

All teddy mattresses are manufactured in ISO9001 certified factories, ensuring the highest quality standards are followed during the manufacturing process.

Upcycling old mattresses

As we strive to continuously improve and work towards a greener tomorrow, the upcycling of old mattresses has always been an industry issue and a focus of ours.

As a small company looking to make a big impact, we are leaning on the industry networks we have built over the last 20 years and working with both international and local textile, steel and foam recyclers to try and work on a sustainable solution to stop the volume of old mattresses finding their way to landfill each year.

We know, we still have a long way to go to achieve our goals but everyday we are one step closer.

Trees that count

Every bed does its bit to give back to the planet.

Planting native trees is one of the most powerful actions we can take to combat climate change and protect our beautiful country for future generations.

We’ve partnered with Trees That Count, an organisation planting native trees throughout New Zealand by connecting tree funders with tree planters.

While we choose to use only ethically sourced timber to make teddy bed bases (launching end of 2022), it’s important to us to also help regenerate native trees, support biodiversity in Aotearoa and to help mitigate our carbon footprint.

So, with every teddy purchase, we donate a tree for planting on your behalf.

Don't just Recycle.... Upcycle!!

Eco-friendly products are a more conscious choice, but when it comes to really minimising harm to the planet, choosing products produced with up-cycled materials is even better.

Upcycling prevents unnecessary waste heading to landfill or into our oceans by instead diverting it back into high-quality, usable materials.

It’s called the circular economy, and we’re contributing our bit to creating change through a partnership with the Seaqual Initiative.

Every day up to 8 million pieces of plastic find their way into our oceans. Rescuing plastic from our oceans is an incredibly powerful way to protect our marine life for years to come.

teddy has partnered with the SEQUAL INITIATIVE, a unique collaborative community fighting plastic pollution. Each teddy bed is woven with SEQUAL fabric, and removes up to 50 plastic bottles from our oceans, so that you are helping the planet even while you sleep.

Together our choices and actions can bring about great change. Join us in the fight against marine litter and our mission to support local communities and the circular economy.
